Summer
Summer has been hotter than recent years. More than half of July was 100 degrees or more. Little rain in Lawton but moderate showers to the north, east and west.
Spring/Summer 2026
Rain fell off drasticly after beginning of April with 5 rain events (1 major) for 7.54 inches. May2026 had 1.39 inches and 5 much smaller rain events; 5.46 inches in June with 4 rain events. Zero rain in July as the region drifted into severe drought territory from more than half the month 100 degrees or above. Late winter/early spring was dry until a few showers popped up in April so drought effect particularly profund. Trees have begun losing leaves.

Spring 2026
A little cool down mid-month April with nightly lows in the 40s and daily highs 60s-70s. Daffadils bloomed around Valentine's Day this year.

Winter 2026
With the exception of a week in mid January with a little snow and a lot of ice/sleet, and a couple of seasonal days in February, Winter 2026 was almost nonexistant. Record high temps and a couple of weeks with no freezing temperatures even at night.
2022-2025 Overview
Late Summer 2022-December 2025 -- A COUPLE of Years of Storms, Winds and Auroras extending far south, but not much Snow. General trend has been long Summers, short Winters.
2025
One week long sub-freezing cold snap hit in late Feb2025 then a series of wind/dusty storms in early March.
April 2025 saw record rainfall from nightly/early morning rains. Cloudy mornings and rains ended mid to late June but temps remained below 100 until the end of July.
Warm and dry Fall, followed by a mixed December - below average first 1/3, average middle 1/3 and much above average week before Christmas through New Years.
New Years 2026 was cloudy to partly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s.
Notable Events
There was a garden killing late freeze April 20, 2023 (temperatures dropping from 60 F to zero in one day). A monster storm hit in June 2023 with high winds and large hail causing wide-spread damage.

4-6 inches of rain falls in 90 minutes and creates havoc in the early hours of 26 April 2025. A total of 14.25" of rain for April smashes the April 1915 record of 9.76" for the month.
